SmartDraw can import an AWS or Azure account, or the classes in a GitHub repository, into a diagram when you run the import. Datadef’s AI is narrower and deeper: it only draws architecture, so a prompt about a VPC, a Kafka topic or a dbt model comes back with the right zones and icons.
Probably not, and it does not try to. Floor plans, org charts and Visio files belong in SmartDraw. Datadef is the better fit for the engineers: architecture from a prompt, from Terraform or SQL, or from a repository, embedded live in the docs they already read.
There is no SmartDraw importer. Export the diagram as an image or a PDF and drop it into the prompt: the AI rebuilds it as an editable canvas with typed nodes and vendor icons. draw.io XML files are accepted too.
