Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about aws network diagram generator

Can it map my network automatically from the AWS account?

No. There is no account connector, so it will not discover a live VPC by itself. You describe the network, paste the Terraform or CloudFormation that defines it, or let a coding agent read your IaC repo through the MCP server and draw it. For continuous discovery across a large estate, a dedicated network mapping product is the better fit.

Which network components can it draw?

VPCs, subnets, route tables, internet and NAT gateways, security groups and NACLs, Transit Gateway, VPC peering, VPC endpoints, Direct Connect, Site-to-Site VPN, load balancers, and Route 53. Boundaries render as nested containers so subnet placement is visible at a glance.

How do I show what is public and what is private?

Ask for it in the prompt: "public subnets on the left, private on the right" or "highlight anything with a route to the internet gateway". The AI groups subnets into labeled containers and you can adjust colors afterwards on the canvas.

Can I use the diagram in a security review?

Yes. Export a high-resolution PNG or share an embed link that always shows the current version. Reviewers usually want the trust boundaries and ingress paths, and both render explicitly.
